A lobbyist might be what South Orange needs to help identify and obtain federal funding to renovate Village Hall, one official said Friday.
Trustee Howard Levison said that in addition, there are other “infrastructure projects” that federal money could support. Someone with connections in Washington could help the village make its case to federal policymakers.
Hiring a lobbyist was floated during a recent finance committee meeting. Levison stressed that trustees still need to talk about the issue as a group before deciding whether to hire a firm.
Through its congressional representatives, South Orange asked for approximately $9 million to pay for public works and other projects. The largest of those requests, $4.2 million, was for Village Hall.
