Democrats John F. McKeon and Mila M. Jasey were re-elected Tuesday to the state Assembly in the 27th district race.
“I am humbled and thrilled by the support of the people,” said McKeon, the top vote-getter.
With 91 percent of precincts reporting, McKeon received 30,063 votes, Jasey 27,899, Republican Mark Meyerowitz 17,745 and Republican Barry Funt 17,267.
Results are not official until certified by Essex County Clerk Christopher J. Durkin.
“I’m gratified,” Jasey said, although her enthusiasm was tempered by Gov. Jon Corzine’s defeat.
Corzine carried Essex County, where he campaigned on Sunday with President Barack Obama in Newark. But the support was not enough, as Republican Chris Christie won.
