CHS girls basketball team falls in ECT

Alana Ferruggiaro scored 13 points but the 10th-seeded Columbia High School girls’ varsity basketball team lost to seventh-seeded University, 47-27, in the round of 16 of the Essex County Tournament last Saturday Feb. 4 in Newark. Leilani Schultz-Joy had six points and Kyrsten Van Natta netted four points for the Cougars, who lost their eighth straight game and fell to 2-12. In the previous day, the Cougars lost to West Essex, 47-27, in North Caldwell. Van Natta had 14 points, Iyonah Sindab-Gould contributed eight points and Ferruggiaro added six points.
Van Natta scored 15 points and Ferruggiaro had five points in the 44-24 home loss to Montclair on Feb. 2.
