The Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team lost to a strong Plainfield team, 60-41, in the quarterfinals of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 tournament on March 4 in Plainfield.
Femi Agunbiade had nine points and Austin Little had eight points for the eighth-seeded Cougars, who fell to 13-14. Plainfield, the top seed, improved to 23-3.
Jamar Chavis scored 20 points, Agunbiade had 16 points and Little added 11 points as the Cougars downed ninth-seeded Piscataway, 80-54, in the first round on March 2 at home.
