Theodore R. Murnick
Theodore R. Murnick died Jan. 24 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y.,
Mr. Murnick was a graduate of City College of New York, and had
degrees from New York University and Georgetown University. He
owned and managed residential real estate throughout New Jersey for
43 years. He was a member and past president of Oheb Shalom
Congregation in South Orange, a board member of United Jewish
communities of MetroWest, an officer and board member of Jewish
community Housing Corporation, and a national trustee of National
Jewish Health. Mr. Murnick is survived by his wife, Maxine; three
children, Lee, Jay and Amy McKeag; two siblings, Sharon Kunhoff and
Daniel Murnick; and two grandchildren.
Michael Hannon
Michael “Mickey” William Hannon, 79, of Union died Jan. 26, in
Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County, Berkeley Heights.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Hannon lived in Vailsburg and South
Orange before moving to Union four years ago. He was a physical
education teacher with the Clark Township Board of Education from
1966 until retiring in 1996. He also worked as a bartender at
Cryan’s in South Orange, and, during the summer, at the Sea Girt
Inn at the Jersey shore. A 1954 graduate of Seton Hall University,
he was a member of the Seton Hall University Basketball Hall of
Fame. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange.
Mr. Hannon was predeceased by his son, Michael C. Hannon. He is
survived by his wife, Alyce A. White Hannon; three children, Lisa
Horton, Tara Aimutis and Marla Hernandez; three siblings, Joseph
and Gerard Hannon and Mildred Koehler; and six grandchildren.
