The Adult School is offering classes on financial fitness, including advice on education planning and surviving a layoff. You can learn ways to manage, save and make more money than ever before.
On Thursday, March 25, the Adult School will present "Financial Independence Begins With a Plan." The class will cover retirement planning, asset allocation and education planning.
A step-by-step guide to education planning on Tuesday, April 13, will help you identify how much you'll need to save for your family's educational needs, establish a savings plan and implement a savings strategy. The class will also explore 529 plans, education savings accounts and other investment vehicles.
Learn how to survive a layoff on Tuesday, May 4. What you do immediately after receiving word that you've lost your job can make a big difference in how you will be able to support yourself and your family. Class will include information on severance, cash flow, unemployment benefits, Social Security options, financial planning and retirement plan choices and opportunities.
These financial advice classes are being offered for the Adult School by Richard A. Cohen and Matthew R. Zhilitsky, financial planning specialists, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. The classes are 7-9 p.m. at South Orange Middle School. The fee for each class is $15.
You can also discover 20 ways to make money. James W. Farnham, a professional speaker and author, will uncover the secrets of residual income on Saturday, April 24. The course covers financial markets, insurance, taxes, retirement income, how to become cash rich and house poor, your mortgage and OPM (other people's mortgages), on demand publishing, internet, home-based businesses and much more. The fee is $45.
